About Barnhill Decorating Center

In 1962, Stan Barnhill needed his sofa reupholstered and could not afford to have it done, so he decided to do it himself; And he did just that.  A neighbor saw it, and wanted him to do theirs, then a friend of theirs wanted a piece of furniture done, etc.  Word got out and soon Stan was making more money doing upholstery than on his day job.  That's when "Barnhill Upholstery" was born.

From that, Stan learned the drapery and blind business, as he continued to master his skills in upholstery and design in window treatments.  Stan's reputation for his mastery of this skill is incomparable and highly sought after by Aiken's well known "winter colony" residents and horse community.

The business has evolved from just upholstery to what it is today, a full-scale interior design business.  Emily joined Stan in the business in 1987 when they married.  Emily is an Allied ASID qualified interior designer.

Testimonial:

Dear Emily and the Barnhill staff,

John and I want to let you know what a pleasure it was working with you, Michelle, Margo, and Stan.

Michelle was the first person I encountered at your store.  She was informative, professional, and courteous.  Then we met you, Mrs. Emily.  You are one terrific lady who knows her business.  You truly impressed us when our first fabric choice was not quite right to you.  You continued to search for the right fit and low and behold, you found it.

During installation, we met Margo and Stan: Again two professionals.  They made the installation go so smoothly.

The quality of our draperies could not be any better,  We are very pleased.

What a nice experience!

Thank you,

John and Eileen Meskill
