My name is Karen and I am the owner and a Photographer at A Rose Photography Inc. Since I can remember, being a young child, I have always had a love for taking pictures. Growing up I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A CAMERA IN MY HAND READY TO TAKE PICTURES OF ANYTHING THAT I SEE WHETHER IT BE EXCITING, FUNNY, SCARY, OR BEAUTIFUL. I took photography classes from high school all throughout college when I graduated in 2003 with a degree in Liberal Arts. I love photography so much that I decided to do it for a living because there is nothing better than doing what you love to do and making yourself and other people happy while doing it. My style of photography is mainly photojournalistic with a reasonable number of traditional style photos and a hint of illustrative photos too. (Read below for detailed description of photography styles) I am passionate with my camera and my photos. I love what I do and I pray that as you go through my website that you decide you love my photos too. Capturing priceless moments in still images is not only my job but it is my passion… it is my life!

Differences in photography styles

Traditional wedding photography style: Is a timeless style that you’ve seen time & time again. The hallmark of this style is carefully posed photographs. Benefits: There is a “shot list”, which means you’ll get all the important images you want. Disadvantages: It is very time consuming where the photographer becomes the “wedding official” directing the wedding party and guests. Less time to spend with guests.

Wedding photojournalism: Is a Contemporary style known as the documentary approach. With photojournalism you get a series of candid photos covering the entire day. Benefits: Series of spontaneous & unique images aimed to “tell the story of your wedding day.” Disadvantages: There is no pre-planned “shot list.” Images are spontaneous and unpredictable as it is up to the photographer’s instincts. Low-level light may cause some pictures to look grainy.

Illustrative photography: Place the subjects in a certain setting to take advantage of good lighting or backgrounds. Once the scene is set, the subjects are free to be themselves, which results in a more spontaneous feel. This style takes advantage of the photographer’s artistic judgment rather than capturing a series of moments.
